About the job

The Contract Manager main responsibilities are undertaken during the engineering, procurement, construction and installation of offshore wind farms in Taiwan. You support the project team with proactive and ongoing advice and recommendations in respect to commercial and contractual issues affecting the delivery of a project to safety, quality, time and budget. In the contracting processes you will closely cooperate with the (in-house) legal counsel. In the execution phase, you will closely cooperate with the package manager and technical team. Next to supporting the project team you will also support IX internal projects as well as other relevant projects that needs attention within IX.

Your responsibilities

  • Reviewing and analyzing technical contracts relating to (offshore) wind.

  • Identify risks and propose mitigation measures in relation to contracts.

  • Monitoring compliance to contracts from both Employer’s and Contractor’s perspective.

  • Build cases and claim compensation for damage or contract deviations and manage the related processes.

  • Ensure evidence for contractual compliance is available in an organized way and build cases / defend against claims from other parties.

  • Providing summaries of contractual obligations to the project team members

  • Reviewing incoming communications from the customer/contractors and for managing and / or action all contractual correspondence.

  • Drafting notices, submissions and communications to be submitted in accordance with the contract terms.

  • Drafting and reviewing formal correspondences / notices issued by the Project Director and ensuring that notices are submitted on time and in accordance with the provisions of the contract.

  • Interpretation and advice to the project team on the content and interpretation of the contract in terms of scope, obligations and rights & remedies.

  • Proactive management of potential claims scenarios.

  • Maintaining a log / schedule of delays indicating their impact.

  • Compiling all manner of claims, including Extension of Time and Costs applications.

  • Evaluating contractors’ claims and providing recommendations to the Project Director.

  • Help and support with IX internal projects or other projects that are relevant for IX

About you

We appreciate the right combination of personal as well as professional qualifications and would prefer the right candidate to bring the following skillsets to our team:

  • Either University level M.Sc. in a relevant technical education OR Master of Laws with relevant specialization. 

  • 10+ years of work experience with big and complex projects preferably in offshore wind, oil & gas or other offshore or large, complex construction projects

  • Contract Management experience, with in-depth knowledge of extension of time and costs claims, etc.

  • Genuine interest in Construction/Contract Law

  • You have affinity with technical aspects of offshore (wind)

  • You have experience with working in an international environment and different cultures: cultural sensitivity

  • You have the ability to influence and to facilitate the development and implementation of goals, objectives and plans

  • You have a pragmatic approach and strong negotiation skills

  • Independent self-starter able to manage own workload with minimal supervision

  • You are a strong communicator, both verbally and written

  • You are based in Taiwan and have excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, capability to understand Traditional Chinese / speak Mandarin is a strong advantage
