Rui Li 1 Floating Offshore Wind ready for Floating Wind Demonstration to accelerate Taiwan’s journey to Net-Zero
09-24-2024Taipei, 25 September 2024 – Rui Li 1 Floating Offshore Wind, developed by a consortium of offshore wind professionalism with solid local and global experiences: IX Renewables, Hexicon and GF Corporation, proudly announces its participation in Taiwan’s inaugural Floating Wind Demonstration, underscoring its confidence in Taiwan market and commitment to accelerate Taiwan’s journey to net-zero emission with pioneering floating wind technology. Rui Li 1 Floating Offshore Wind will also make its debut at Energy Taiwan 2024 this October.
Located 21 kilometers off of Hsinchu County, Rui Li 1 Floating Offshore Wind, has passed the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) 1st stage of preliminary review this year. With a water depth ranges from 75 to 95 meters, the wind farm could install 12 floating wind turbines with a total installed capacity of 180MW, generating 833 GWh for about 205,000 households a year.
Rui Li 1 Floating Offshore Wind aims to unleash the deepwater energy potential of the Taiwan Strait, contributing to Taiwan's sustainable future and energy transition. This initiative brings together industry experts with excellent engineering knowledge, solid experience and knowledge in Taiwan’s wind industry, and a broad international perspective. IX Renewables, with over a decade of strong presence in Taiwan, excels in the offshore wind project development and EPCI management. The collaboration of Taiwanese and Dutch teams will establish international standards for the project. Hexicon, with over 15 years of experience in floating wind development, provides world-class techniques and solutions and is eager to integrate expertise from Europe and South Korea to bring success to the project, while Japan’s GF Corporation lends its robust technological foundation in wind power systems to support this venture.
Lars Hummel, Taiwan Representative, stated: "Rui Li 1 Floating Offshore Wind values Taiwan as a crucial market due to its deepwater potential in the Taiwan Strait. The Rui Li 1 Project is well-positioned to address the complex challenges associated with floating wind projects with robust engineering capabilities and global insights, while maintaining a strong local presence to navigate both the technical and market-specific challenges. As Taiwan embarks on a new phase of offshore wind development, we are excited to participate in the upcoming floating wind demonstration to support the energy transition in Taiwan with the joint effort from our partners, presenting the advancing floating wind innovation and technology as well as world-class expertise, and to cultivate and explore a pioneering floating wind sector in Taiwan.”
Rui Li 1 Floating Offshore Wind eagerly anticipates engaging with Taiwanese stakeholders and local entities, looking forward to connecting with local renewable energy community at the Energy Taiwan 2024. Visitors are invited to meet Rui Li 1 Floating Offshore Wind team at booth Q0324, Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center, Hall 2, from 2 to 4 October, to know more about the project.
