About the job

The Technical Manager within IX Renewables is responsible for setting up the technical and engineering strategies and managing the execution of the approved strategy for (floating) offshore wind projects. As the Technical Manager you will be part of the project team and within the project you will report to the Project Director. The Technical Manager is part of the Client Success department and reports to the Head of Client Succes for matters outside the project.

Project informationIX Renewables has a strong presence in the Taiwan offshore wind market. From our office in Taipei, we are working on the development of several offshore wind farms.

One of these projects concerns the development of a floating offshore wind farm. The project is in bidding preparation stage and is expected to be commissioned in 2030. For this project, we are looking for a Technical Manager. 

Your responsebilities:

  • Developing, implementing and managing the design and engineering strategy for the project, be responsible for delivery of the strategy, including program and budget, and risk management.

  • Providing technical support and knowledge expertise in respect to time, costs, safety, quality and interfaces of all aspects of the project.

  • Work with other parts of the project team to establish the design basis (geotechnical investigations, metocean data, wind data, bathymetry etc.).

  • Analysing existing designs and implementing technical standards with special focus on interfaces between design and construction phase.

  • Contact EPCI contractors and maintain the relationships.

  • Prepare and issue RFP and/ or RFQ, coordinate clarifications, lead negotiations and provide recommendations of preferred suppliers.

  • Prepare technical and engineering decisions to be made, present recommendations to the management team.

  • Liaise with subject experts, define scopes for internal subject experts to deliver, follow up of deliverables.

  • Support in the preparation of tender documents, define scopes of engineering studies, coordinating tenders and following up contracts for specific engineering tasks (internal and external).

  • Managing interfaces with other areas of the project and internal departments to ensure the successful completion of the project.

  • Review engineering deliverables and ensure interfaces are properly managed.

  • Ensuring risks are addressed / reported, mitigation action determined and that risks are minimized or closed out.

  • Promoting and working within the Project Management Office (PMO) such as Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental Procedures and ensuring HSE / Construction Design Management (CDM) requirements are implemented.

  • Providing regular progress reports to the Project Director and input to project’s reporting standards on budget, planning, KPI’s, lessons learned, etc.

  • Coordinating with project participants with regard to design aspects (project team, procurement, onshore technical support, external designers, suppliers and installation/logistics contractors.

About you

  • 10+ years of work experience in similar role with big and complex projects preferably in oil & gas, energy or offshore (wind). Experience in Floating wind is a big advantage.

  • MSc degree or equivalent in Engineering.

  • Excellent organization skills with the ability to manage own workload, bring projects from conceptual level to a concrete plan, manage milestones and coordinate external and internal stakeholders.

  • Entrepreneurial mind set but also able to structure and guide a project team.

  • Knowledge of complex offshore operations and technical skills related to such.

  • Ability to cooperate with subject experts and the capability of understanding these subjects.

  • Experience in an international and global environment.

  • You have experience with working in an international environment.

  • Ability to enable effective communication and transfer of information between stakeholders.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Chinese.

  • Ideally based in Taiwan or The Netherlands.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, Chinese is a big advantage.

  • Strong team player, willingness to learn, self-starting and highly motivated.
