IX has experience in strategic O&M advisory since 2011. We have provided strategic O&M advice in the development phase of more than 10GW of offshore wind capacity.
The O&M costs are crucial factors for determining the profitability of the investment in offshore wind energy. OPEX can be up to 40% of the wind farm lifecycle expenses, while revenues are strongly dependent on the adequate execution of the maintenance activities. IX advises developers in defining an O&M strategy in an early phase of the development process.
IX uses an in-house developed software package SOMOS8 to calculate and compare different O&M scenarios focusing on WTG availability and downtimes failure data and thereafter integrate it in our OPEX model to create the link to monetary values and look at OPEX costs breakdowns and cash flows. With both tools, scenarios can be compared against each other to determine the best O&M strategy, and outcomes can directly be implemented into the project’s financial models.
